Morning: Hacked: Overcoming a Cyber Security Breach, will focus on how Bloomfield Hills Public Schools responded when the district found itself in the midst of a digital crisis after students planned and executed a cyber hack of the district's student information system. During this session, Shira Good, APR, Bloomfield Hills Public Schools, Communications and Service Standards Director will share how the district became aware of the hack, how she produced and implemented a communication plan to address the situation and the challenges she encountered as she worked to do what she knew was in the best interest of the district.

Afternoon: After lunch, Gregory Rokisky, Michigan Association of School Boards Marketing Manager will present Handling Social Media Before it Becomes a Digital Crisis. During the session, Greg will share best practices in social media including when to monitor, when to jump in or out, and what to do when you need to intervene.


Shira Good’s career has taken her from Hollywood to Garmisch, Germany, and back to Michigan, which she has called home since childhood.  Shira worked for Berkley Schools in Oakland County, MI, from 2008 to 2012, when she accepted a position with Bloomfield Hills Schools. As the Director of Communications and Service Standards, Shira is responsible for all things communications as well as continuous process improvement and customer service for the district.  As a mother of two vocal girls and wife of a fellow school communicator, work often finds its way home with Shira in more ways than one! She has a passion for speaking and storytelling and is thrilled to be a part of OCSPRA, MSPRA, and NSPRA!

Greg currently serves as marketing manager for MASB and has been part of the team since May of 2017. His experience spans industries including agency, corporate, freelance nonprofit and association. With a knack for digital media and tying to a big-picture strategy that is sure to effectively reach target audiences and work toward organization goals, he’s constantly staying up-to-date on evolving trends to find the most effective ones for each organization. Greg recently was named the Michigan Society of Association Executives’ 2018 Emerging New Leader and was selected as one of the Lansing region’s 2018 10 Over the Next Ten.
