Please join us on June 17, 2024, for an in-depth analysis of the U.S. Department of Education’s 2024 Title IX regulations, where we will discuss critical changes to the Title IX process and their implications for k-12 public school districts. The presentation will dissect the changes to Title IX, including new definitions of key terms (“on the basis of sex,” “quid pro quo,” “hostile environment,” and more), broader jurisdictional scope, and changes to the grievance procedures. It will explain how to comply with the new regulations’ requirements related to the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. It will also briefly touch on topics such as interim removals, supportive measures, informal resolution, and new protections for pregnancy and related conditions. The presentation will provide an update on recent lawsuits filed by nineteen states (and counting) that seek to enjoin the new Title IX regulations. Finally, the presentation will conclude with a preview of considerations for policy and procedural revisions.
